Rawhide installs by default with accounts 'halt' and 'shutdown' with no password, typing either 'halt' or 'shutdown' into the login prompt shuts the machine down. Delete those accounts or put a password on them if you want to use that mechanism.

I tried MyCroft on my Linux box wanting the convenience of a voice activated personal assistant but found, like the others, it needs to send voice data back to it's servers for interpretation which is bullshit. Wish there were something open source that ran entirely on my machine.
@John Doe Actually they don't force you but they make it really difficult. I have my machine dual boot Linux / Win10, and it was a struggle to figure out how to make a local account.
@John Doe I boot it because I can not get a game I have been playing for oh probably close to two decades, Flyff, to work under Linux. Also the best software for my software defined radio, SDRUno, does not work well under Linux. It works but not well (skips, locks up, etc). CubicSDR also works with my SDR but doesn't have the facilities to take advantage of some of the better features of the RSPdx such as the extended dynamic range mode for low frequencies below 2Mhz or the notch filters. And that's pretty much all I use it for.
@John Doe One really nice thing about integrated Intel graphics is that the kernel built-in X-server works very well with it. I'm using an i7-9700k overclocked, and it gets me around 110-120 fps at 1920x1080 resolution which is more than adequate given my monitor has a max refresh of 70hz.
@John Doe Ok, this may help, I had a Canon scanner and had difficulty finding Linux drivers for it. I was not able to find them on the US site but did find them on the Japanese site canon.jp. Back in the day it used to be possible to access websites through google translate, don't think that works anymore so navigation may be difficult unless you can enlist the help of a Japanese friend. You can still cut-n-paste each page.
@John Doe They do seem to list for some units in the US but not the one I had and apparently not yours. Since I found drivers there though it might help. The Canada and Australia sites also did not have drivers on them. Can't help but wonder if Bill Gates paid them to not list Linux drivers.
